PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ethylene based polymer which has reconciled excellent molding processability and mechanical properties, particularly an ethylene based polymer having remarkably superior extensibility, resistance to drawdown properties, and flowability on melting to the conventional ethylene based polymer, and both high rigidity and environmental stress cracking resistance. SOLUTION: The ethylene based polymer is a polymer of ethylene alone or a copolymer of ethylene with a 3-20Cα-olefin and meets the conditions that (a) the melt index (HLMI) at 190 deg.C under a load of 21.6 kg is 0.1-1,000 g/10 min., (b) the density (d) is 0.935-0.985 g/cm3, and (c) the relationship between the storage modulus [G's(ω=0.1)] at 190 deg.C with a frequency (ω) of 0.1 rad/sec or the storage modulus [G's(ω=1.0)] at 190 deg.C with a frequency of (ω) of 1.0 rad/sec and the HLMI meets the formulae: Log[G' s(ω=0.1)]>=-0.374×Log(HLMI)+4.35 and Log[G' s(ω=1.0)>=-0.135×Log(HLMI)+4.62.
