PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent meaningless display at switching of a power source, irrespective of the characteristics of the driving power source. SOLUTION: The disclosed driving method of a plasma display panel is to apply a pulse PSC, having an erase pulse for making the maximum potential difference between scanning electrodes and sustaining electrodes reach a sustaining voltage Vs, immediately after the power source has been switched on.
