PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide facsimile equipment capable of preventing recording by a receiving side as a picture image of a different size in the transmission of originals including mixed sizes. SOLUTION: The equipment is provided with a data extraction part 8 for extracting consecutive white or black pixels from a document stored in a transmission data buffer part 4 to extract the area of a required original content, an original size decision part 7 for deciding that picture data can be housed in a small original size, and a communication control part 10 for performing protocol control so as to set an optimal original size to respective pages based on information in the part 7.
