PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for controlling the fluidity of molten metal with which the variation of circulating speed generated with a linear motor can be restrained. SOLUTION: The molten steel is circulated in a mold 30 with the linear motor disposed at a meniscus position. When a DC exciting coil 34 (or 61 and 62) wound around the outsides of linear motor coils 321 and 322 or iron cores 311 and 312, is excited with a DC electric source, DC magnetic field is generated at the right angle to the flow of the molten steel, and electric current is generated in the mold as the flow of the molten steel and at the rectangular direction to the DC magnetic field. Lorentz's force is generated at the reverse direction to the flow of the molten steel with the mutual action of the current and the DC magnetic field, and acted as the braking force restraining the variation as the time of the flowing speed of the molten steel.
