PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object gripping device capable of loading work 11 just on a target position. SOLUTION: Supporting members 36 projecting in the direction to approach to a grip member 9 are mounted at a lower end part of a pair of grip members 9 capable of being displaced to be approached to or separated from each other, vertically extended operation members 45 are oscillatably mounted on the grip members 9 through hinges 39, coil springs 65 are mounted between each grip member 9 and each operation member 45, its spring force is determined to be more than a value necessary for relatively moving a lower part of an end part of the work 11 on the supporting members 36, and first and second stopper members 53, 57 are respectively mounted on the operation member 45 and the grip member 9. When the grip of the work 11 is released by moving the pair of grip members 9 in the direction to be separated from each other, the operation member 45 is angularly displaced in the approaching direction by the spring force of the coil spring 65 to hold the work 11 on a target receiving position 70. Whereby the work 11 can be correctly placed on the target receiving position 70.
