METHOD OF TREATING SURFACE OF FACE PANEL USED FOR IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE, AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE COMPRISING THE TREATED FACE PANEL

PURPOSE: A method of treating surface of face panel used for image display device and image display device are provided to efficiently reduce manufacturing costs. CONSTITUTION: A face panel(3) has functions such as antireflection and it provides images with excellent resolution and contrast. The face panel(3) is surface-treated by forming at least one coating film(12) by spraying on the panel a coating material including microparticles. The coating material contains a solvent of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol ether, water and an alcohol having 1-3 carbon atoms. The coated coating material is air-dried. During the drying step, solvents having lower boiling points are evaporated preferentially while solvents having higher boiling points remain in the coating material for a long time. Ethylene glycol remains in the coating material for the longest time and takes a sufficient time for leveling the irregularities formed at a time that the coating material sprayed from the spray nozzle hits the face panel.
