PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent small particles such as dust and earth from entering in between duct parts of a hydrant by almost completely sealing them during a long time water shutdown period and also install water shutdown device firmly and strongly so that the device is prevented from being taken out easily without permission. SOLUTION: This water shutdown device is composed of several kinds of hydrant attachment bodies 1 and a piece of cover body 2. The individual hydrant attachment body 1 is made up of a ring formation that can be opened or closed freely. The ring formation has a hole 10 for a duct that can be inserted into an outer circumference of a hydrant, or a main tap of city water duct is provided in its center. Further the device has another outer circumference that is smaller than an inner circumference of a cover body, and a piece of cover body 2 is bigger than the outer circumference of the ring formation of all hydrant attachment bodies 1, and they are equipped with not only a hydrant covering body 200 which has a cavity that can cover the hydrant or a main tap A but also a movable backstop that ca protrude freely to an aperture 202 of the hydrant covering part. The hydrant attachment body can freely be opened or closed. There is also another implementation mode that the hydrant attachment bodies 1 are made up of an inner ring body 1a and an outer ring body or 1b.
