PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disengaging jig for an E-shaped retaining ring allowing safe and easy removal of the E-shaped retaining ring. SOLUTION: The disengaging jig for an E-shaped retaining ring removes the E-shaped retaining ring fitted on a shaft of equipment from the shaft. The disengaging jig has a retaining ring pressing portion 2 insertable in a gap between a recess portion 5a and the shaft 6 of the E-shaped retaining ring 5, and an abutting portion positioned outside an opening portion 5b of the E-shaped retaining ring 5, with the retaining ring pressing portion 2 inserted in the gap. By moving the retaining ring pressing portion 2, the E-shaped retaining ring 5 is pressed and moved in an opposite direction to the shaft 6, with the retaining ring pressing portion 2 inserted in the gap. The abutting portion is allowed to abut on the shaft approximately at the same time when the E-shaped retaining ring is removed from the shaft.
