PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a stable print density even in case of high speed plate making and to ensure durability of heating elements. SOLUTION: The thermal head 1 of stencil printer comprises a glaze layer 4 formed on a ceramic substrate 3, and a plurality of heating elements 2 formed at an interval in the main scanning direction on the surface side of the glaze layer 4 wherein the main scanning size of the heating element 2 is 10%-85% of the pitch of main scanning heating elements, sub-scanning size is 10%-95% of the sub-scanning feed pitch and the thermal head 1 is driven at a heating period of 2 ms or less in unit of line. The glaze layer 4 is formed thick directly under the heating element 2 and the thickness of the glaze layer 4 at a part separated 0.7 mm or more from the center of the heating element 2 in the sub-scanning direction is 0%-80% or less of the thickness at the thickest part.
