PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to easily manufacture a glass blank having no wrinkle. SOLUTION: In this method for manufacturing a glass blank, molten glass is made to flow downward or drop onto a receiving face 4 of a receiving die 1 while gas is injected upward from the receiving face 4 so as to generate such a state that at least the center region in the receiving face side of the molten glass flowing downward or dropping is not in contact with the receiving face, or preferably that a part of the peripheral region of the molten glass in the receiving face side is in contact with the receiving face but the center region is not in contact with the receiving face (states B to E). Then the molten glass is reserved.
