The drying station for a wet web (7), and especially of paper, has either a single row of rollers (1-5) to give a pure air drying action, or at least a suitable number of rollers are arranged in succession in the direction (I) of web travel to give a low residual moisture content, so that there are no damaging draw forces on the web at a following heated drying cylinder. The drying station for a wet paper web has rollers of one or two types, where the air flow direction is different in each type, or the roller types alternate with one type in the lower position and the second type in the upper position. At least one fourdrinier (6) carries the web around at least one roller, and preferably several rollers of the first and/or second types. At least one roller blows air, and at least one roller has a suction hood (9). Or at least one roller is a suction roller, and at least one roller has a blower hood (8). At least one roller has a sieve stocking around its mantle, and at least one roller has a grooved mantle surface. At least one heated drying cylinder can follow the drying rollers. A cooling unit can be at the final roller, after the drying rollers. The fourdrinier can be heated, especially by the drying cylinder.
