PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a propargylfurfuryl alcohol represented by general formula (2) (R is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group) having a controlled formation of a reaction by-product. SOLUTION: This method for producing a propargylfurfuryl alcohol represented by general formula (2) is characterized in that a haloallylfurfuryl alcohol represented by general formula (1) (R is as shown above; X is a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom) is reacted with a powdery alkali metal hydroxide.
