<p>The letters (5) etc. are sorted into a row, corresponding to a sequence of possible addresses, beginning with two or more part rows (10,20,30). Transfer units (14,24,34) of the same number as the part rows, transfer letters sequentially from one part row to a selector unit (80). The selector unit is constructed for selective acceptance of letters from all transfer units, and to transfer all letters to a common discharge point. A control unit collects the addresses of the letters to be transferred, and actuates the selector unit according to the set sequence. At least one transfer unit has an associated reader device (13,23,33) for automatic reading of addresses.</p> |
