PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the limit on design of a passbook printer dealing with a magnetic card to attain a smaller size and a lighter weight by using a dedicated magnetic card holder. SOLUTION: The magnetic card 100 is set to the dedicated card holder 200 and then processed by a bankbook printer 300. This bankbook printer 300 is provided with a magnetic head 305 capable of reading a magnetic stripe on the bankbook, printing to the bankbook and printing to a slip. The card holder 200 is carried by a carrying roller 311 or the like. A control means can detect the length of the card holder 200 by an insertion port sensor 341. The control means matches the position of the magnetic stripe 105 with that of the magnetic head 305 by the carrying roller, and the reading is then performed by the magnetic head 305. The control means can discriminate whether the data read by the same magnetic head 305 is the data of the magnetic card 100 or the data of the bankbook by their formats.
