PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door upper rail haying a downward guide groove facilitating the mounting work thereof to a wall surface and easily carrying out maintenance inspection. SOLUTION: The sliding door upper rail 2 is fixed to the wall surface, at the same time, the guide groove 21 for guiding the upper end edge of a sliding door is opened downward, the sliding upper rail 2 is constituted of a base member 22 and a facing member 23 divided in the longitudinal direction, an engaging section 221 between both of them is forcedly fitted and, at the same time, the guide groove 21 is formed of the base member 22 and the facing member 23.
