PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem where a spot conventionally comes off, when proceeding with treatments for analyzing genes (e.g., at hybridization) by rigidly immobilizing a biological sample of DNA, protein, or the like to a substrate by covalent binding. SOLUTION: A surface-treated layer of hafnium carbide, niobium carbide, silicon carbide, tantalum carbide, thorium carbide, titanium carbide, uranium carbide, tungsten carbide, zirconium carbide, or the like is formed in the slide glass which are capable of carrying oligonucleotide or DNA fragments on the surface. In addition, in the slide glass, oligonucleotide or DNA fragments are made to hold and contact the coating of the surface-treated layer, and genes and carried on the surface of the slide glass to analyze the genes in a method.
