PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photodetecting position sensing device capable of accurately sensing a photodetecting site of a vehicle irrespective of a size or the like of the vehicle by one receiver. SOLUTION: The photodetecting position sensing device comprises photodetectors 1 to 16 arranged in this order in one receiver for constituting the sensing device. When the receiver is mounted in the large vehicle, all the photodetectors 1 to 16 are connected in this order by switching operations of respective switches. When the photodetectors 1 and 2 photodetect, a site of a front right is detected, when the photodetectors 3 and 4 photodetect, a site of a front lateral right is detected. Thus, the accurate site corresponding to the photodetected photodetector number is detected. When the receiver is mounted in the small vehicle, circuits of respective switches S1 to S6 are switched. For example, the photodetectors 3, and 13, 14 are separated from the circuit, and the photodetectors 2, 5 and 12, 15 are arranged adjacently and connected. Thus, when the photodetectors 2 and 5 photodetect, the site of the lateral front right is detected. In this manner, even when the vehicle to be mounted is changed, the accurate site is always detected.
