An electronic part feeder (41) for feeding parts to a carrier tape (13) having electronic parts (19) stored in the upper recessed part (13a) thereof by using a taping part (3) having a cover tape (11) covering the upper part of the recessed part (13a) stuck thereon, wherein a brushless motor is used as a drive motor (110) for a tape feeding mechanism (43) feeding the taping part (3) to increase the productivity of an electronic part installer having the electronic part feeder (41) installed therein, and electronic part feeders (241, 371) comprise control parts (255, 355) for automatically performing the initial processing such as the feeding-out of the taping part (3) and the feeding-out of the cover tape (11) and also detecting and notifying the defective feeding of the taping part (3) when the electronic part feeders (241, 371) are installed in the electronic part installer to easily and rapidly detect the defective feeding of the taping part (3).
