PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data coding apparatus and the like capable of improving the compression rate of entropy coding for color image data. SOLUTION: In an image data coding method, inputted color image data are entropy coded by converting them into color image data to which color data values are assigned, where the color image data are such that a color is represented by luminosity data and color data each of which is expressed in a plurality of bits, and the values of the color data are allocated such that the value of the color data corresponding to an achromatic color, for example, is expressed by 00h, and has a relation in which the difference in data becomes large as the difference from the achromatic color becomes large.
