PURPOSE: To provide a vacuum ultraviolet excitation-emissive element with high brightness. CONSTITUTION: In this vacuum ultraviolet excitation-emissive element having a discharge space filled with a rare gas between a front plate and a back plate, parallel disposed to each other, with the front plate provided with a phosphor layer, the thickness of the phosphor layer provided on the front plate is 7μm or less. Alternatively, in this vacuum ultraviolet excitation-emissive element having a discharge space filled with a rare gas between a front plate and a back plate, parallel disposed to each other, with both the front and back plates provided with a phosphor layer, the thickness of the phosphor layer provided on the front plate is 7μm or less. |
