<p>PURPOSE: To charge the slab to a heating furnace of different charging pitch by calculating the charge side space in each heating furnace, and comparing the sum of the slab width for one handling amount with the space of the furnace. CONSTITUTION: When the slab 12 group of different slab condition s is charged in the respective exclusive heating furnace, the sum of the slab width for one handling amount to be charged in a first heating furnace 20 and the sum of the required space are calculated first. The space on the extraction side generated by the extraction and carriage in the first heating furnace 20 is retrieved and calculated. Then, a judgment is made whether or not the slab 12 to be charged in the first heating furnace 20 is completely stored in the space, and if the judgment that it can be stored is made. The material for the first heating furnace 20 is carried, when the material can not be charged in the first heating furnace 20, the carriage of the material to a second heating furnace 22 is determined in a similar manner to that for the first heating furnace 20.
