PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily, accurately conduct manual fitting of a valve guide into a cylinder head, relating to a press fitting device of the valve guide and a press fitting method of the valve guide. SOLUTION: This press fitting device for the valve guide has a shaft part 33 to be inserted into a guide hole 12 of the valve guide 10; an auxiliary member 34 to be fit to the tip of the shaft part 34; and an attaching/detaching member 36 detachably joining the auxiliary member 34 to the shaft part 33. The valve guide 10 is attached to the outer periphery of the shaft part 33, the auxiliary member 34 is joined to the tip of the shaft part 33 with the attaching/detaching member 36, the valve guide 10 is held in the shaft part 33 with the auxiliary member 34, the shaft part 33 and the valve guide 10 are advanced at the head of the auxiliary member 34 into a valve guide insertion hole 12 of a cylinder head 1 of an engine, the valve guide 10 is press fitted in the guide insertion hole 2, and the auxiliary member 36 is separated from the tip of the shaft part 33 by detaching the attaching/detaching member 36.
