PURPOSE: A small inexpensive reliable multi-function light source module for a Dense Wavelength Division Multiplex system is provided to monitor and control output variation and wavelength variation of the light source in a single module, simultaneously. CONSTITUTION: A light source module comprises a single mode light source(21), a lens(22), a partial beam splitter(23), a photo detector for light source output(24), a Fabry-Perot filter(25), a photo detector(26) and a photo detector(27). The single mode light source(21) is mounted on a ceramics plane substrate(20). The lens(22) collimates a laser beam emitted from the single mode light source(21) by controlling the divergence angle of the laser beam. The partial beam splitter(23) separates some part of the laser beam incident through the lens(22). The photo detector for light source output(24) monitors intensity of the partially separated laser beam. The Fabry-Perot filter(25) has a wavelength selecting characteristic. The photo detector(26) detects a beam transmitted through the Fabry-Perot filter(25). The photo detector(27) detects a beam reflected from the Fabry-Perot filter(25).
