A security bolt apparatus is described which includes an anchor pin (1), a moveable component (4) including a locking aperture for receiving in use a padlock or similar lock, the moveable component being pivotally connected to the anchor pin. The pivotal attachment is effected by a pivot pin (8) passing through aperture (3) in the anchor pin (1). The moveable component is able to be provided in a first position substantially parallel to the anchor pin so that it protrudes from a ground surface in which the anchor pin is disposed in use. In this first position, a garage door or other object to be secured by the apparatus can be locked to the moveable component. The moveable component can also be provided in a second position substantially perpendicular to the anchor pin where it is flat or recessed relative to the ground surface.
