PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle navigation device capable of being efficiently operated when a vehicle waits for a signal to turn green. SOLUTION: The on-vehicle navigation device displays a map screen or both the map screen and a mark of one's own vehicle on a display device according to the current position determined by a processing device for the one's own vehicle position and to map data read by a storage medium reading device, and calculates and displays a recommended route from a departure point to a destination. The navigation device is provided with a means for detecting the drive and stop of the vehicle, and when the vehicle starts to travel from a stopped state, the condition of the device during the stop and the display screen (a) are temporarily retracted and the device performs current position displaying action (b). At the next stop of the vehicle, the device condition and the display screen (c) retracted can be restored. |
