The conductivity of a side (10b) of parts (10) away from the surface to be coated, is generated and/or increased by positioning an earthed electrically conductive part. This is e.g. a metal mesh (14), which corresponds to the contour of the part to be coated and is in electrically conductive connection with similar parts. The conductive mesh is earthed via a conductive motor vehicle body. It is positioned opposite to the spray appliance on the non-coated side at a distance of pref. between 0cm and 10cm.
