SUBSTANCE: method involves following procedures: block of ice is placed in stationary ice bin where ice is crushed into pieces which are then conveyed to device with set of grates installed so that upper grate receiving ice pieces has largest cells, next ones have smaller cells where streams of hot air supplied under pressure pass through ice pieces placed on grates and in the process they melt ice; water and cooled air produced in the process are discharged from device. Grates are made of perforated hollow tubes; hot air is passed through its holes to chamber. For further air cooling use is made of at least two devices; cooled air is passed from first device to second one for melting ice pieces. EFFECT: reduced labor consumption and energy requirement. 3 cl
