PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a lithium titanium double oxide for an electrode active material which can constitute a lithium secondary cell excellent in durability such as cycle characteristics and storage characteristics at high temperature and to provide a method to easily manufacture the lithium titanium double oxide. SOLUTION: The lithium titanium double oxide is expressed by the composition formula of LixTiyO4 (0.5<=x<=3 and 1<=y<=2.5), and the average particle size of its particles is >1 μm and <=50 μm calculated as spheres. The double oxide is manufactured by mixing a lithium compound and anatase type titanium oxide having >1 μm average particle size calculated as spheres and calcining the mixture at a temperature of >=500 deg.C and <=1,000 deg.C. |
