PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elucidate the function of netrin molecule in the brain of the vertebrate, to provide a treatment suitable for the damage of the brain caused by diseases and other reasons, to identify unknown members of UNC-6/netrin family that is expected to be diverse in order to permit promoting the formation of the normal neural network, and to analyze the in vivo functions of them. SOLUTION: This membrane-bound netrin has a hydrophobic region capable of binding to the cell membrane via glycosyl phosphatidylinositol(GPI) on the C terminal.
