PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an excellent oil agent usable in the step for producing a carbon fiber, having excellent heat resistance, good process passage (hardly causing fluff and yarn break), and a long-term operation stability and capable of providing a high-quality carbon fiber in the step for producing the carbon fiber. SOLUTION: This oil agent usable in the step for producing the carbon fiber is characterized in that the oil agent comprises (A) a polyester-amide obtained by reacting (x) a polyester having a carboxyl group with (y) an amine or an amide, and optionally (B) an alkylene oxide adduct to an amide compound obtained from a polyamine and a fatty acid, in the proportion regulated so that the content of the component (B) based on the total weight of the components (A) and (B) may be <=10 wt.%. |
