PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication party selecting method, which can obtain many communication parties without time nor trouble and invite the communication parties without preparing a document properly representing one's preference, and a recording medium with a recorded communication party selection processing program. SOLUTION: According to a plurality of independent words extracted from various document files which are historically stored in a document base 13 on a client terminal 1 and make it possible to estimate the preference of a user, user preference information (i) representing the preference of the user is generated and the similarities (s) between this user preference information (i) and pieces of user preference information i' stored in a prepared communication partner selecting server 2 are calculated to generate a hobby object list (high-similarity user preference list) regarding information with high similarities (s); and this hobby object list is reported to the client terminal 1.
