PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a punch retainer apparatus of which the lateral dimension is shortened by shortening a pushing out (pulling in) length of a cam plate and in which the cam plate is used without coming off from a punch holder by providing the apparatus with a locking mechanism and the punch holder is moved compulsorily when the punch holder is not moved upward by a spring. SOLUTION: In the punch retainer apparatus 1 constituted so that when the cam plate is advanced by a air cylinder or manually, a punch 4 is protruded by a stroke from a rear face of a retainer block 5 and when the cam plate is retreated, the punch 4 is pulled in by a stroke into the retainer block 5, a recessed or projecting engaging part is arranged in a lower part of the cam plate 3 and an upper part of the punch holder 6.
