PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for setting a print format capable of readily setting a data position to be printed with respect to a paper having any format. SOLUTION: This print format setting device 100 comprises an image reader 2 for detecting shape and size information of a printing paper, a display means 4, an input means 1, a printing means 6, a paper image information analyzing means 31 connected to the image reader 2, a paper information memory means 51 for storing the analyzed result obtained by the paper image information analyzing means 31, a data position setting means 32 for calculating a printing position and a printing region for the information to be printed, a data position information memory means 52 for storing the calculated result of the data position setting means 32, a data editing means 33 for executing the editing of the information to be printed, a data size memory means 53 connected to the data editing means 33, and a paper image information analyzing means 31.
