PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal gasket having a longer service life and better sealing performance in comparison with a conventional one. SOLUTION: This metal gasket 1 is composed of one sheet of gasket base 2 made of stainless steel. A full bead part 2A is formed at the gasket base 2, surrounding a combustion chamber hole 3, and an annular projecting part 2C and an annular recessed part 2D are formed further inside. The relation between the bulge height H of the annular projecting part 2C and the distance S of a discrepancy between both peripheral surfaces 2C' and 2D' is set within a range surrounded by four straight lines A, B, C and D shown in figure 3.
