PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming apparatus using an ink-jet type recording head including a cleaning means which enables stable cleaning. SOLUTION: In this image-forming apparatus using the ink-jet type recording head which employs a cloth tape as the cleaning means for a nozzle face of the recording head, the cloth tape is pressed against the nozzle face of the recording head after the recording head is positioned to the outside of an image formation region, and then taken up by a predetermined amount after being released from the pressing.
