PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new plant gene capable of being given by using Tos17. SOLUTION: This polynucleotide comprises a polynucleotide which codes for the plant gene capable of controlling leaf shape and size, wherein the polynucleotide includes a polynucleotide coding for an amino acid sequence which starts from Met (methionine) at the 1 position of the sequence number 2 in the sequence tables (refer to the specification) and ends with Val(valine) in the 690 position, and another polynucleotide coding for an amino acid sequence in which one or a few amino acids are eliminated, substituted or added when compared with the above amino acid sequence.
