Compounds of the general formula <FORM:1105492/C2/1> (wherein R1 is halogen, hydroxy, C1- 6 alkyl, C1- 6 alkoxy, nitro or trifluoromethyl and R2 is hydrogen, phenyl optionally substituted by C1- 6 alkoxy, chloro, bromo, fluoro or trifluoromethyl, furyl, pyridyl or thienyl) and their acid addition salts are prepared by the following procedure. <FORM:1105492/C2/2> (wherein R3 is halogen or -OCOR1, in which R1 is C1- 6 alkyl or alkoxy), optionally followe by salt formation. The preparation of 2 - (p - methoxyphenyl)-3-phenylacrylic acid is described. The compounds of the invention are spasmolytic agents, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them together with a carrier. |
