A roller for forwarding newly-spun elastic yarn is provided with a smooth groove on which the yarn runs and which has holes at regular intervals around the periphery of its base, the groove being in section, semi-circular or in the shape of a wedge with a rounded base. The holes help to drain liquid off the yarn, and it is said that they prevent the yarn sticking to the roller.
