MOBILE UNIT DRIVE DEVICE AND PARALLEL MECHANISM MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple structure parallel mechanism which the support rigidity of a mobile unit is improved by directly connecting a universal joint to a ball screw. SOLUTION: In a machine tool having a parallel mechanism, a plurality of ball screws 4 are supported by means of a first universal joint 1 to a top plate of a machine frame 11 and connected to a second universal joint 2 at the top end so that the ball screw 4 are connected to a main shaft head 10. The ball screw 4 is threaded in a nut and a motor 3 can rotate the nut. NC device 13 controls the revolution of the motor 3 based on a required shaft periphery rotation of the ball screw 4 and a required displacement toward axis of the ball screw 4. The ball screw 4 controls the main head 10 to a target position and posture by moving parallel toward axis together with the second universal joint 2 which rotates with the ball screw 4 toward shaft periphery direction.
