PURPOSE: A reflection type LCD device with a cholesteric liquid crystal color filter is provided to manufacture an LCD device with high contrast, high color purity, and a wide viewing angle by controlling an order parameter of cholesteric liquid crystal molecules. CONSTITUTION: A phase difference plate(121), a polarization plate(123), and a negative uniaxial film(119) are laminated sequentially on an upper substrate(111). A cholesteric liquid crystal color filter(117) is formed on an opposite face of a lower substrate(113) to the upper substrate(111). A black layer(124) is formed on a back face of the lower substrate(113) formed with the cholesteric liquid crystal color filter(117). A transparent pixel electrode is formed on an upper portion of the cholesteric liquid crystal color filter(117). A common electrode and the pixel electrode apply voltage to a liquid crystal(115).
