To apply a cut decorative motif (27,32) to a pliable textile fabric (4), a film (7) of polyurethane and the like is positioned over the cut pattern and bonded in place by thermofusion. The dimensions of the film (7) are larger than the area of the cut motif (27,32). The film is bonded in place by heat on one side of the fabric (4) or the other, and then cooled. The film (7) is opaque, translucent or transparent, with or without color. The film (7) can be printed in advance on its inner surface (9). The outer surface of the film (7) can be covered by a protective skin, which is peeled off. As the contour of the motif is cut, at least one zone (29) is left in place in the fabric (4) between the contour pattern zones (18-20) and/or within the contour. The film (7) has at least one matching zone (36) which is bonded to the remaining zone (29) and then durably bonded to the remaining zones (29,36). The bonding zone (36) has at least one hole (37), with the heat bonding action around it. The fabric (4) is carried by a conveyor support, which is cut together with the fabric (4), or the carrier is uncut. The carrier conveyor is of paper or a nonwoven material. The fabric (4) is of woven or knitted yarns. An independent claim is included for a fabric (4) which is cut into the pattern of a motif within an enclosed contour. A film (7), in the same shape as the contour but of larger dimensions, is placed over it and bonded durably in place by thermofusion between the fabric and one surface of the film.
