PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always obtain excellent printing regardless of the installation environment and the operating of a printing device. SOLUTION: A surface potential meter 8 monitors the surface potential of a photoreceptor 1. The monitored surface potential value is converted into power supplied to a stepping motor 6 by a control circuit 7. The rotating of the motor 6 is transmitted to a cam gear 4 by an idle gear 5 so as to rotate a cam 3. The cam 3 comes into contact with the shaft on an electrifying roller 2, so that the center distance between the roller 2 and the photoreceptor 1 is changed by rotating the cam 3. By changing the center distance between the roller 2 and the photoreceptor 1, the contact pressure of the roller 2 with the photoreceptor 1 is changed. By changing the contact pressure of the roller 2 with the photoreceptor 1, the electrified amount of the surface of the photoreceptor 1 is changed to change the value of the surface potential.
