A procedure for the control of individual adjustments in a car has the following steps: - recording of the fingerprint of a user for his identification with the help of a fingerprint sensor (2) located in a portable unit (1) before the vehicle is stepped into. A signal (4) assigned to the recorded fingerprint is transmitted to the car (10); and - undertaking of individual user-specific adjustments in the car on the basis of a stored user profile assigned to the identified user. The portable unit is a remote control operation for a central locking system. The transmitted signal is transmitted together with an access-authorization signal of a remote control operation.
