A support framework (10) for an umbrella-type tent (10), the tent (10) including a fabric tent shell (12) suspended from the support framework (10). The top (14) and center hubs (16) for the support framework (10) are fabricated from a suitable material so as to provide increased strength to the top hub (14) and the center hub (16). The fabric tent shell (12) is tethered to the support framework (10) to limit slippage of the fabric tent shell (12) down the tent poles (18a-d). The tent poles (18a-d) are segmented so as to provide foldable tent poles (18a-d). A bungee cord keeper system (26a-d) is incorporated into the upper coupling (30a-d) for the segmented tent pole (18a-d).
