<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the occurrence of a circumferential flaw caused by biting of a double-bulge-shaped overlapped part on an end face of a material to be rolled into the width of a product, to enable the method to correspond easily and rapidly in the middle of rolling, to also make application to a finishing temperature designating material possible and to enough secure thickness and rolling length. SOLUTION: End face shape measuring apparatuses 1 such as laser are installed on both sides of a conveying table of a roughing mill, the shape of end-face bulge and the amount of overlap are recognized by measuring the shapes of an end face fL parallel to and the other end face fW perpendicular to the longitudinal direction L of a slab S2' on the middle of cross rolling pass. In the case of the double bulge shape, the amounts of overlap which are predicted in the case that the remaining cross rolling is performed leaving the rolling direction as it is and in the case that the remaining cross rolling is performed after rotating 90 deg. are predictively calculated. By adopting the direction of the cross rolling the amount of overlap of which is predicted as small, the remaining pass schedule is recalculated and the remaining cross rolling is performed.</p> |
