<p>PURPOSE: To prevent a foam layer from being formed or being thickened or allow a foam layer to disappear or reduce in a short time by feeding a compound of a metal, for example, Al, Ti, Si, Zn, Mg, Fe, Cr, Co, Ce or the like on the foam layer occurring on the molten glass prepared in a glass melting furnace. CONSTITUTION: The raw materials for glass is continuously fed from the input port 1 into the glass-melting furnace 2 and is molten with the combustion gas that is blown from the regenerator 7 via the blow 6 into the furnace and the molten glass 3 is extruded out in turn. A metal compound of Al, Ti, Si, Zn, Mg, Fe, Cr, Co, Ce or the like are fed via a spraying unit 10 mounted on the side wall 5 to the foam layer 9 formed on the molten glass 3, when the glass raw material layer 4 is molten. As this metal compound, an organic compounds and inorganic compound, for example, oxide, salts or the like are used and they are fed in the form of powder, solution, suspension, or gas.
