摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new photocatalyst which has high activity and a long life and is nonpoisonous and inexpensive, its production method, and a method for decomposing hydrogen sulfide into hydrogen and sulfur by using it. SOLUTION: The photocatalyst, a layer of zinc sulfide fine particles, has a shell 1 of a layer of zinc sulfide(ZnS) fine particles 5-10 mn in particle size and a cavity 2, and the shell 1 has holes 3. The layer of zinc sulfide has a shell reflecting the shape of zinc oxide particles of the raw material. In the photocatalyst, the ratio of zinc and sulfur changes along the thickness of the layer. An electric field is generated along the layer thickness to reduce the recombination between a free electron and a free hole which are generated by being exposed to light and also the recombination between an oxidation product and a reduction product, creating the high activity of the catalyst.
