PURPOSE: The system for recognizing the image information for the blind and method for controlling the system are provided to enable the blind to easily take the various information service by altering the different image or character information into the thermal braille, and to walk alone without a white cane, a guide, or a seeing-eye dog by recognizing the place and direction of an object in real time. CONSTITUTION: The system largely comprises an image analyzer(20) and a heating screen(30). Image output devices(10) serve the various image information via TV, PC, VTR, camera, beeper, or cell-phone. A frame-grabber(21) collects the image information coming out of the image output devices and grabs a frame. A DSP(Digital Signal Processor) controller(22) stores and controls the processed information. An image processor(23) processes and stores the image information. An outline extractor(24) extracts an outline by using the processed information. A heat resolution controller(25) controls the resolution(800x600 dot), analyses the current generation intensity, determines the frame, and controls the heat resolution for showing the image information. A hot plate controller(31) alters the image information to the thermal information. A column/row decoder(32,33) controls the current of a resistance arranged on a ceramic plate of the hot plate and supplies the current per the relevant dot. The hot plate(34) shows the image information in the thermal braille by the heat coming from the relevant dot.
