PURPOSE: An apparatus for processing asynchronous transfer mode cell of an E1 signal and a T1 signal is provided to be effectively adapted to an asynchronous transfer mode based network by processing many E1/T1 signals, thereby reducing expenses per a circuit and a system. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of line interface modules(210) connect with an E1/T1 line for receiving an ATM cell of E1/T1 level from the E1/T1 line, and transmitting the ATM cell to be transmitted to the E1/T1 line. A line clock providing part(220) supplies clock for transmitting and receiving E1/T1 signals to the line interface modules(210). AAL(ATM Adaption layer) processing parts(230,240) connect with the corresponding line matching part, perform a process of an AAL to the ATM cell received in the corresponding line matching part, and makes a signal of a receiving AAL into cells of the AAL for sending the same to the corresponding line matching part. An AAL control part(250) supplies clock required for processing the ATM cell to the AAL processing parts(230,240), receives the AAL-processed ATM cell through a UTOPIA interface for outputting the same to a main layer in good order, and transmits the signal of the receiving AAL received from the main layer to the AAL processing parts(230,240).
