PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous hot dip metal coating method and apparatus, with which even in the case of varying the hot dip metal bath surface level caused by disturbance, such as charge of an ingot, foreign matter stuck on the inner surface of a snout is not detached by the hot dip metal bath and the non-coated position caused by the sticking of such a foreign matter is not developed. SOLUTION: In the continuous hot dip metal coating method, by which after advancing a metal strip into the hot dip metal bath through the snout dipped into the hot dip metal bath, this metal strip is drawn up to execute the hot dip metal coating on the metal stip, the dipping depth of the snout is kept almost constant to the bath surface level.
